While a promising app, Mars Atlas needs a few tweeks and additions to make it a good app worth paying for. Here is a short list:
1) Many of the descriptions are lacking, to say the least. Descriptions are basically “Classical Albedo Feature Name” and rarely little more than that. I realize it’s a lot of work to put in details worth reading, but for the cost of the app I don’t think it’s asking too much.
2) Make a click-on-name-for-info option. Right now, if you find a geological item of interest you can’t click on it to find out more but rather you have to type the name in a search bar. Again, no really useful or interesting info is displayed in the “info” box.
3) Add an altitude overlay. Right now there are only two map views - Globe and Flat Image - which leaves the map content a little lack-luster.
4) Date/Time & Location options are of Earth… This is a Mars app. Maybe do something to make this info more relevant to Mars (e.g. when is the next time Mars is visible for your location, current celestial coordinates, etc…).
I don’t completely regret paying for the app, however there are better free apps apps available, like Google Mars.
